Softlogic to build luxury resort on east coast
Sri Lanka's Softlogic Holdings group plans to build a luxury resort on the island's east coast with an investment of 200 million rupees in deal with Ominga International, a statement said.
The company entered into a shareholders' agreement with the shareholders of Ominga International (Private) Limited on January 13, 2012 for the construction of a luxury resort with 40 rooms and 20 luxury villas in Pasikudah.Under the deal, Softlogic shall own 66.66 percent of Ominga for which Softlogic will invest 200 million rupees, the stock exchange filing said. The investment is to be made in tranches based on the funding requirements of Ominga for the construction of the resort, it said. The resort is the latest announcement of a new hotel in the tourism industry which is experiencing a boom in arrivals and investment after the end of the island's 30-year ethnic war in 2009.

Softlogic Buys Asian Alliance PLC
Softlogic Holdings and its subsidiary Softlogic Capital Limited have acquired a 73.53% stake of the Asian Alliance Insurance PLC. The Company announced that the deal went through today( Aug 12th, 2011). Softlogic has paid Rs. 3.3 billion to buy the stake with the purchase price tagged at Rs. 120 per share.

The Swiss hotel chain Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts signed a Management Agreement with Softlogic Holdings Ltd to operate a Mövenpick Hotel in Colombo.Softlogic expects to open the hotel by mid -2013 with 19 floors and 180 rooms in the property owned by Softlogic, located next to the Liberty Plaza in the heart of the city.
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is a hotel management company with over 12,000 employees and has over 90 hotels existing or under construction in 26 countries. It expects to open hotels in several countries in 2011 including Egypt United Arab Emirates, India, Ghana, Turkey, Singapore and Thailand.
